Course Description
A workplace accident does not announce itself. A colleague collapses, a machine causes an injury, a burn or a fall happens without warning — and the person closest to the scene must decide, immediately, what to do. The Sauveteur Secouriste du Travail certification exists to ensure that person is prepared: that they know how to protect the scene, assess the victim, alert the right services, and provide the right assistance before professional help arrives.
This course was designed for employees in all types of French workplaces who want to obtain or renew their SST certification and develop the confidence to act in a real emergency. You will learn to identify workplace hazards, follow the SST action protocol — Protect, Examine, Alert, Assist — perform CPR and use an AED, manage injuries, choking, and sudden illness, and handle the reporting and post-incident responsibilities that the Code du Travail places on every employee and employer.
Across five practical modules, you will move from the legal foundations of workplace safety and accident prevention to emergency response, essential first aid skills, and the safety culture practices that make workplaces not just reactive but genuinely safer. By the end of this course, you will be equipped with the knowledge, the skills, and the legal understanding to fulfil your role as a certified first responder in any French workplace environment.
Why This Training Matters
In France, the Code du Travail requires employers to ensure trained first responders are present and accessible in the workplace at all times — and the consequences of non-compliance fall on everyone.
Workplace accidents cost lives, generate legal liability, and carry lasting consequences for the colleagues who were present and unprepared. The SST certification is not only a legal requirement — it is the difference between a workplace that responds and one that waits.
Where This Course Takes You
Understand your legal role and identify the hazards in your workplace
You will understand what the Code du Travail requires of employers and employees, identify common hazards across office, construction, and industrial settings, and apply basic risk assessment techniques to prevent accidents before they happen in your specific work environment.
Follow the SST protocol and coordinate emergency response effectively
You will apply the Protect, Examine, Alert, and Assist sequence with confidence, communicate clearly with SAMU, the fire brigade, and your workplace team, and manage an emergency situation in a way that maximises the victim's chances and keeps other people safe.
Perform CPR, use an AED, and treat the injuries your workplace presents
You will practise cardiac arrest response, AED operation, bleeding control, burn treatment, choking management, and responses to fractures, shock, and sudden illness — to the practical standard required for SST certification, with the confidence to apply these skills under real pressure.
Report incidents correctly and contribute to a lasting culture of workplace safety
You will understand the legal reporting obligations that follow a workplace incident, support colleagues through the aftermath of an emergency, and build the safety culture practices that turn first aid training from a one-time certification into a permanent asset for your team and organisation.
