Course Description

Energy is one of the largest controllable costs in any organisation — and in France, it is now a regulated obligation. The Décret Tertiaire mandates progressive energy reductions for commercial buildings, the BEEE legislation requires mandatory audits for large companies every four years, and the EU Energy Efficiency Directive is tightening requirements across every sector. Organisations that manage energy reactively — responding to bills rather than managing systems — are leaving significant money, performance, and compliance on the table.

This course was designed for energy managers, facilities professionals, sustainability officers, operations leaders, and compliance teams who need to build, implement, or improve an ISO 50001-compliant energy management system. You will learn the full structure of ISO 50001:2018, apply the Plan-Do-Check-Act cycle to real energy performance challenges, develop energy baselines and performance indicators, manage audits and reporting cycles, and navigate the French and EU regulatory framework with confidence.

Across six structured modules, you will move from energy management fundamentals and regulatory obligations to implementation, digital tools, auditing, and the governance and innovation practices that define long-term energy culture. By the end of this course, you will be equipped to lead an ISO 50001 programme that delivers measurable savings, satisfies regulators, and builds the organisational capability to sustain performance improvement year after year.

Why Compliance Training Matters

Energy management in France is no longer optional — it is a statutory obligation with financial penalties for non-compliance.

The vast majority of data breaches originate in poorly informed management decisions — not technical vulnerabilities. A manager trained in GDPR is your organisation's first line of defence. For more details Click here

Where This Course Takes You

1

Understand ISO 50001:2018 and your organisation's regulatory obligations in France

You will master the structure and requirements of ISO 50001:2018, understand how the Décret Tertiaire, BEEE, and EU Energy Efficiency Directive apply to your organisation, and build the foundational knowledge needed to design and lead a compliant energy management system from the ground up.

2

Implement a working energy management system using the PDCA cycle

You will conduct energy reviews, establish baselines and performance indicators, collect and monitor energy data, set measurable targets, build action plans, and produce the documentation and operational controls that an ISO 50001 audit or regulatory inspection expects to find.

3

Deploy digital tools and technology to drive measurable energy performance

You will evaluate smart metering, energy management software, process optimisation technologies, and AI and IoT applications — and understand how to select, deploy, and extract value from these tools within the governance framework your ISO 50001 system requires.

4

Prepare for certification, manage audits, and build a long-term energy culture

You will conduct internal audits, manage performance review and corrective action cycles, prepare your organisation for certification audit in the French context, and build the governance, leadership, and cultural foundations that sustain energy improvement beyond the initial implementation.
